life after baby…

With just a few short weeks left in this pregnancy, I am just dying to meet this little one that I can feel kicking me all day long.  We’ve watched a lot of birthing videos in my HypnoBirthing class and I am almost in tears during each one.  I am just so looking forward to my little baby’s birthing day– this is what we have to call it in class… we are always reminded, babies are not born on their due date, they are born on their birthday 🙂

However, I have to admit that I am selfishly looking forward to a few other things that are just about me… like… sleeping on my stomach!  eating sushi!  And especially, having a wardrobe that doesn’t revolve around the same few maternity pieces that I feel like I’ve been wearing for months.

I don’t have any unrealistic expectations… I know that I will leave the hospital still looking at least 6 months pregnant, but that actually sounds really good right now…

Anyway, I’ve been searching for some non-maternity pieces that I can wear post-baby while I get back into shape.  Of course, I turned first to my fave store and former employer, Anthropologie.

These two tops are currently on their way to my closet…

Petal Window Tee... really cute cutout detail in back... may need to purchase in additional colors

I’m hoping these drapey tops will work with the various pairs of yoga pants that I’m sure I will be living in once baby arrives.  I know they are so plain, but just the thought of having something new feels really exciting.  I’ve also discovered a handful of cute clothing boutiques here in Spokane and I can’t wait to be able to shop them.

In completely unrelated news, I saw this video on Facebook, and just think it’s hilarious.  If you are a Cubs fan or a Sox fan or a Ron Swanson fan (if you do not know who Ron Swanson, please do some research asap– one of the funniest characters on TV right now), I think you will appreciate this…  Have a good weekend!

  1. Even though you will leave the hospital still looking pregnant you will FEEL so much better. It’s crazy how you instantly feel this huge weight off your body! One piece of advice…don’t spend too much money on post-baby clothes. You will quickly change sizes over the course of a few months so some things you wear right away after baby will be too big soon. But I know what you mean by just wanting new, cute clothes! But adorable shirts by the way – might have to check those out myself!!

So excited for you to experience meeting your new little one. Best experinece ever – so happy for you!

    • Thanks Danielle! I am definitely looking forward to that feeling of having the extra weight off, especially when rolling over in bed at night 🙂 I can’t wait to meet the little guy and hopefully come back into town so the rest of the family can meet him too!

  2. Normally I would get made at you for ordering two of the same things that are basically the same color. But, since I typically buy four of five of the same thing in the same color (especially dress shirts – in a box), I’ll allow this purchase.

HOWEVER, I’m sure these could have been purchased from Target for significantly less than Anthro sells them for. Thus, when the little baby arrives and we can’t afford to pay for clothing for him, I’ll just tell him “Your mother HAD to have something from Anthro. Therefore, you can’t have any clothes. Sorry baby.”

    • Yes, poor baby will just have to run around the house in a diaper, sans any other clothing, because as you have seen we are definitely running low on clothes for the new baby… I clearly haven’t bought anything at all for him…

  3. Michael, pipe down! Janis can buy anything she wants from Anthro, I give her permission 🙂 Especially since she’s been growing a human being for the past 9 months!

Friend, I am so so excited for you guys to meet your baby boy too. I know how the last few weeks feel but you are so close to meeting that sweet baby. You’ll forget all about how long the last weeks felt once he’s here! xoxo
