10 pounds…

As you may recall baby boy weighed 10 pounds at birth… (and 2 ounces ๐Ÿ™‚ )

Well, now I am referencing a different 10 pounds…ย  Ten weeks after having Lincoln, I am officiallyย (essentially) 10 pounds away from my pre-preggo weight.ย  Woo-hoo!

To be honest, I was dieting right before I got pregnant and was a bit thinner than usual. (I did the Dukan diet, which actually worked really well…)ย  But 10 more pounds and I will be (relatively) happy with my weight and hopefully back into all of my normal clothes.

last year… end of summer in Kauai just before I found out I was pregnant…

well now I’m just wishing I was back in Kauai… it was such a lovely trip…

I am actually pretty lucky…ย  I have done next to nothing in terms of working out, aside from neighborhood walks with Lincoln and countless treks up and down the stairs in our house– usually bringing Lincoln up to the nursery for diaper changes, which happens many, many times each day.

And of course, although at the end of my pregnancy, I looked like this…

I was a giant!

… it was all worth it, because now I have this guy in my life.

I love my baby boy

out and about…

I am still getting used to taking Lincoln out of the house… It seems silly that it would be so hard to coordinate taking such a small person out and about, but somehow it still feels like a lot of work.

The main problem I have right now is that Lincoln apparently hates his car seat.ย  He is generally a very happy baby and only cries/fusses if he is hungry or tired… but boy oh boy does he scream in the car!

So, the trick to avoiding a backseat meltdown seems to be… 1. get him into his car seat when he is sleeping, 2. keep trips very short and 3. don’t stop moving the car, ever ๐Ÿ™‚

To my son’s dismay, however, I do occasionally have to stop of course at a red light or stop sign.ย  During each stop, I say a little prayer that the pause in motion doesn’t awaken the little man.

I know that logically he is fine back there… I always make sure he has eaten, has a clean diaper, etc., and I know that in the future he will enjoy car rides (or so I hope!), but it sure is difficult to listen to your little one crying without anyway to reach them…

Last week, we took a lot of trips out of the house.ย  My Dad was in town and almost everyday we went out for a bit… to the park, to visit husband at work, or just to drive around the city.ย  Lincoln did pretty well.ย  I’m hoping that the more I take him out, he’ll get used to the car and realize it is a fun place, not a torture chamber ๐Ÿ™‚

And just a few more recent pictures…

two months!

Baby Lincoln is another month older!

He gained only about a pound this month, but grew almost two inches in length!ย  I might have a tall guy on my hands…

** Edit – I had his weight wrong!… Lincoln weighs 12lb. 14oz. … not 12lb. 1oz… and that’s a gain of over a pound ๐Ÿ™‚

Here are the official stats…

Weight – 12lb. 14oz. (50-75th percentile)

Length – 24 1/2 inches (98th percentile)

Head Circumference – 40 centimeters (50-75th percentile)

And some photos of my tall baby…

Love his face…

Happy boy…

Apparently Lincoln was a bit bored with all of my picture taking…

happy two months!

chubby boy…

I know Lincoln is a big baby, but I spend so much time with him that sometimes I don’t notice how chunky he really is.

Well, he’s been spending a lot of time in diapers only lately… The lovely house we are renting does not have AC, something we failed to notice/ask about when we signed the lease in January… So, to keep cool, it’s a lot of fans and minimal clothing– at least for baby boy.

This morning we were lounging in bed and I snapped a picture of him. And I couldn’t believe it… Look at those chubby arms and thighs! I can’t wait to find out how much he weighs; we go to the doctor on Friday. Based on my unscientific method of standing on the scale alone and then holding him, he might be up to 13lbs! What a chunker!

my chubber…

smiles

Lincoln is just starting to do what they call ‘social smiling’ … aka, he smiles in response to your smile…

It’s pretty darn cute.

I caught a bit of it on video this morning.ย  Lincoln was in a moving bouncy seat and I was sitting on an exercise ball in front of him… so I apologize if you get seasick from the video.ย  Luckily, it is very short ๐Ÿ™‚

my forgotten love…

Yes, this is a non-Lincoln related post… mostly anyway…

While I’ve been spending my days nursing, changing diapers and trying to get baby Lincoln to nap, I have completely abandoned the website that occupied so many hours of my life pre-baby… Pinterest!

Well, I logged on today and my love was reignited ๐Ÿ™‚

Although I don’t have much time right now to devote to recreating home decorating ideas I find or putting together any inspiring outfits, I am always on the lookout for new recipes.

Not a lot of cooking has been going on the past six weeks (aside from some grilling that my lovely husband has been handling), but I want to get back to it soon… And although I think it will be awhile before Lincoln has any sense of our daily routines, I do want to be sure that we are a family that sits down at the table and has dinner together every night.

I currently do not own a slow cooker, but have plans to get one soon.ย  Although it may not make the most fancy meals, I feel like it might be a great way to make some easy dinners, when I don’t have a ton of free time on my hands.ย  So, here are a few delicious looking ‘crock pot’ recipes I found today…

Apparently I am in the mood for some Mexican food… If you have any good slow cooker recipes, please let me know!

A quick Lincoln update… baby boy is six weeks old already!ย  I have moments where I think, “Wow!ย  How have six weeks already gone by?!” … and then again, I have moments (often when I am attempting to rock a screaming baby to sleep) when I think, “It’s ONLY been six weeks?!” ๐Ÿ˜‰

I know in the long run, these early weeks will seem like such a blur.ย  So, I try to focus on the peaceful moments with Lincoln, rather than those loud screaming in my ear moments ๐Ÿ™‚
