officially a Mom…

So, I think we can all agree that I’ve been a Mom for awhile now.  However, there are times when it still seems a little surreal; like a Mom is someone way more grown up than I am.  (I felt this way after I got married too.  Being a “wife” seemed crazy.  I still don’t believe it when someone calls me Mrs.)

Well, my poor little Lincoln has been sick all week.  He has a nasty stomach virus that has led to a fever (luckily only for one day), throwing up and a lot of unpleasant diapers… The good news is, despite all of that, he is still nursing a ton, staying hydrated and in relatively good spirits, considering.

I don’t know what it is, but somewhere between the late night diaper and pajama changes, quiet warm baths, and the hours of simply rocking and cuddling, I feel like I’ve been “officially” initiated into motherhood.

Here’s hoping my little man is back to his crazy self some day soon.

eleven months!

Little Lincoln is 11 months old and he is a crazy boy, always on the move.

He loves cats, dogs and reading books– especially if they have pictures of animals.  Lincoln has a sweet, outgoing personality and he has tons of fun playing with other kids and babies at Kindermusik class and at our Mommy & Me meetups.  It is just so amazing to watch him grow and change…

go play outside!

I am so excited that Lincoln is walking and will be able to go to the park and playground this summer and actually run around and have fun!

It hasn’t been too warm yet (a few nice days here and there, but nothing consistent), but I’ve ventured out with Lincoln a few times now and he LOVES sitting in the grass, feeling the wind and of course, eating dirt, bark, sticks, leaves, etc….

Here’s hoping for some warm, sunny days in the near future!

it’s Friday!

Woo-hoo!  A little round up of what’s going on out here…

* Lincoln’s 1st birthday is just around the corner.  Eeek!  So, I’ve been starting to think about his 1st birthday party.  It won’t be anything big, but Nani & Popi, my brother and sister-in-law and their kids are coming into town to celebrate, so I want to plan something.  I’m starting with some decorating ideas.  I’m sure Lincoln will appreciate all of the effort I am putting into choosing a color scheme 😉  I just ordered some bunting from this fun site Yellow Bird, Yellow Beard that I’m going to use.  And I have some awesome felt balls on the way that I am going to string and make into garland.  I am now on the hunt for a good, semi-healthy cake recipe.  I want Lincoln to have the classic “smash cake”, but I also don’t want to send him into a sugar induced coma on his 1st birthday.  I know you can sweeten baked goods with applesauce… If anyone has a good recipe, let me know!

* I mentioned before that I was going to learn more about essential oils.  Well, I went to two meetings led by a doTERRA rep and I just got my first kit with a bunch of oils.  I’ve already been using many of them.  There is a great blend called ‘”Breathe” that you can mix with a little coconut oil and use as an all-natural, psuedo-Vick’s Vapor Rub.  It’s been really helpful with Lincoln’s runny nose that he’s had for the last week or so.

* Remember when I said I planned on making weekly dinners.  Oh what a nice plan that was… Sadly, life (read: Lincoln) has made it a bit challenging to get much cooking done.  However, my lovely friend Victoria has been posting some delicious recipes over on her blog Frankfully.  Butternut squash bisque and veggie fajitas… yum, yum!

* In my continued quest to make friends here, I am going to a mommy & me meet up at an arboretum here in Spokane this weekend.  I’m excited.  Hopefully Lincoln has fun too.

And here are a few of my favorite, recent Lincoln pictures that I’ve shared on Instagram.  Have a great weekend!

Easter weekend

We had a lovely Easter weekend. It was so nice for Nani & Popi to visit and spend time with Lincoln. Every morning we came downstairs, he was just delighted to see someone waiting to say hello.

A few pictures from the weekend…

I was obsessed with this outfit... thanks again to my cousin Natalie for the adorable onesie!
