I’m three!

Lincoln had a big birthday a few weeks ago- three years old!
It’s hard to believe my “baby” is already 3.

I have clearly done a terrible job of sharing any recent photos/stories…
I blame pregnancy 🙂

But, here are some pictures from the last few months.
(And soon, I will have pictures to share of baby #2!)

polar vortex indeed!

Lincoln and I spent several days in Chicago last week-
such a wonderful time of year to visit the tundra…

We were in town because my lovely friend Victoria is having a baby! and her baby shower was over the weekend.

It was great to catch up with some friends and family, but I have to confess… after several days of driving in the snow and slush, bundling myself and Lincoln up every time we stepped outdoors and a few slips on that infamous “black ice,” I was more than ready to return to sunny California.

… and a happy new year!

But first a little Christmas recap…

So, everyone chose to gather here in California for Christmas… I guess the sunshine, warm weather and sandy beaches won out over snowy, cold mountains this year…  I am once again so thankful that despite yet another relocation, we were able to spend Christmas together with Nani, Popi, my brother and sister-in-law and the kids (“Ca” and “Eee” as Lincoln calls them).

We had our big dinner on Christmas Eve, and Lincoln dressed accordingly for our oh so fancy evening…

Of course Lincoln chose to sleep in on Christmas morning… The poor guy has five teeth coming in simultaneously and has had quite a few rough nights lately, which often lead to late awakenings…

But as soon as he was up, the present opening began (his two cousins waited very patiently for him to get up- not an easy task for a 6 and 7 year old!)

reading up on our new city…

After presents, we hopped in the car and drove down to Malibu to play at the beach.  It took Lincoln awhile, but once he warmed up to playing in/near the ocean, I could hardly tear him away.

And now we begin a new year… {and a new look for the blog… I’m still tinkering with it…}
I imagine that by the end of this year, my little Lincoln will be a walking, talking, running, jumping little boy, without a trace of baby in sight… Lately he has just been picking up new words and left and right.  Although many of them are currently only decipherable by me (and sometimes husband), he is desperately trying to say everything.  It is quite amazing to witness.

I am also hoping to do some serious exploring in this new city we are calling home…  I’ve got the local parks down and we’ve seen a few sights (Santa Monica Pier and the promenade, the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, Disneyland- although Lincoln only lasted a few hours before a nap was a serious necessity), but I know there is A LOT more to see.

Happy 2014!

a very happy Thanksgiving

We had family in town for Thanksgiving and boy, oh boy…
Lincoln loved playing with his two older cousins.

Every day, all day, he couldn’t have been happier wrestling, bouncing around, and generally rough housing with the boys.

We made a Thanksgiving dinner {thank goodness for my mother-in-law & sister-in-law who handled nearly all of the cooking… while I wrangled my crazy toddler boy…}, visited the beach and the aquarium, and laughed a lot.
I can’t wait for everyone to be back in town for Christmas!

So, now that it is officially the Christmas season, I am feeling the holiday spirit!  Our tree is up, halls are being decked and Christmas carols are playing on the radio.

Today we went to The Grove and Lincoln was in awe of the giant Christmas tree…

August already?!

Well almost anyway…

July simply flew by.  We drove down to Bend for a weekend visit.  We spent about five days in Chicago visiting friends and family there.  And in between, Lincoln went to some Kindermusik classes, played outside a lot and grew into some sort of climbing, monkey boy (he is suddenly able to climb onto our couch completely unassisted).

Here are some pictures from the month…
(La Crosses– Why didn’t we insist on taking some family pictures at the BBQ?! I didn’t get any pictures of Lincoln with any of the kids… Next time I guess…)

yard sale

I’ve been busy all week getting ready for a yard sale we are hosting this Saturday… exciting stuff, right?  Our whole neighborhood is having a yard sale, so I thought why not join in?  We got rid of a ton of stuff before we moved out here, but since arriving, I realize there are still things I do not really need.  So yard sale, here we come… I’ve never hosted one before, so wish me luck!

In the meantime, here are just a few more pictures from Lincoln’s birthday weekend when everyone was in town.
(I told you summer would mean more sporadic posts, right?  Sorry!)

7th birthday weekend

It was a great weekend in Bend.  I cannot believe our little nephew is seven years old!  Yikes!  I am totally terrified that I am going to blink my eyes and little Lincoln is going to be seven years old.  Ugh.

For now, I’ll just try to slow down and enjoy each moment… especially the wonderful moments when our whole family is together…

long weekend

It was a last minute decision, but, early this morning, husband and I packed up the car, grabbed Lincoln and Riley dog and we are headed to Bend, Oregon for the weekend!

It is our nephew’s 7th birthday and we are surprising him with a visit. He is having a “creepy crawly” party on Sunday, complete with a reptile man who is bringing along all sorts of creatures for the kids to see/touch/learn about. I’m sure I will be a bit freaked out, but it should be fun.

I was dreading this 6 hour drive with Lincoln (still not a fan of the car and really, who wants to be confined to a carseat for half of the day?), but we are several hours into the drive and he’s been okay…

Anyone have fun weekend plans? I mean, probably not as fun as a birthday party with 20+ six and seven year olds and a bunch of snakes, but… 😉
